Here are the updates on our actions/focus list.
Joe has provided a contact name (a Ms. Simpson) for Local 20/20.
Kurt has begun collecting web sites with information about good stuff people can do that saves money. He (and we) would like as much actual cost information as possible. He asks that, as people find information of this type, they forward it to him.
Sherry is working on contacting the local ecobrokers -- there are about 5 of them in the area.
Laura is working on emergency preparedness.
Rich has made phone calls to local transportation agencies and expects to speak to people soon. He asks that people forward transportation-related questions to him. Rich is visiting web sites and collecting information about transportation options (e.g., trucks, barges, etc.) to and on the peninsula. Clallam County has a van pool program (although none of us
has ever seen a commuter van here).
Lori typed up the notes from last week's meeting.
Joe organized our brainstorming notes into categories.
Sid has added information about Power Trip Energy (solar company in PT) to our web site. He is also gathering data to make a concise list of energy saving tips, which he plans to hand to the Sequim Green group.
Alex sent Sid some information about farms, but Sid was unable to open the file. She was not present.
Laura D was not present; no report on water.
Paul is trying to reach Patty McManus (Nash's wife) regarding farm land issues.
Lori said that the communication plan should start with a branding effort (develop a logo, "look and feel," etc.). We also need a concise statement of our core objectives, which is the next step to our visioning process. We need to be able to talk concretely about what we are doing. Rich felt some urgency around getting this effort going, so we can start spreading the
word; everyone agreed. Lori will start fleshing out some of the verbiage from our last meeting, but won't be able to work on a communication plan within the next week.
Kurt will ask David Haight for ideas/assistance for the logo.
We also talked about recycling and waste management. Chris and Ann would like to work on this. Chris will invite the PA recycling coordinator to one of our meetings.
