World Made by Hand will be our book for August, as well as September. The book is written by James Howard Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency, and The Geography of Nowhere, plus others. He is an excellent writer on the Peak Oil and other accumulating catastrophes. This is his first novel, with the setting being the U.S. in a time well past the oil peak with life being very different from what we are familiar with. He provides very good insight as to the possibilities awaiting us, both troubling and hopeful. With World Made by Hand, an astonishing work of speculative fiction, Kunstler makes an imaginative leap into the future, a few decades hence, and shows us what life may be like following the long emergency.
