Weekend workshops about global heating & climate change

These workshops - unique in our region - offer an explanation of climate change from the perspective of systems sciences & geophysiology by an ecologist who has studied & taught about systems & climate for years. These workshops are designed to be both informative & training exercises for discussions about the topics with friends, family, community groups; public presentations, classrooms or media interviews.

● Climate Change 1 : June 6 – 8 & June 20 - 22
● Climate Change 2 : June 13 – 15 & June 27 - 29

Topics

● Climate Change 1 : Principles of systems sciences relevant to climate change; evidence that climate change has begun, is accelerating & probably unstoppable; computer models; the role of media & skeptics in public confusion about the issues ...

● Climate Change 2 : Planning for adaptation to large-scale, long-term climate change; meeting basic human needs for water (e.g., catchment systems); food (e.g., permaculture, local ag); shelter design; community design; alternative energy; security; changes in social, economic & political systems ...
Schedule for both workshops

● Friday: 6:30 pm ~ 9 pm: Lecture: “Beyond the Tipping Point” (Both workshops based on it).
● Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm: Intensive exploration of topics. Bring bag lunch, snacks & drinks.
● Saturday, 6 pm – 10 pm (optional): Open house potluck w/ music. Join in relaxed
conversations w/ Euglena students for clarification, perspective & support.
● Sunday 10 am - 3 pm: Workshop continues. Bring lunch, snacks & drinks.

Costs

● Friday evening lecture: by donation; no commitment required. Saturday + Sunday: $100.
● Seating is limited; reservations are necessary to insure sufficient seating & handouts.
