CLIMATE CHANGE, DESPAIR AND EMPOWERMENT
ALL-DAY WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 10
from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
at Lamb Cottage in Skinner's Butte Park
between Celeste Campbell Center and the playground
Exploring insights and connections - with each other, our planet, and people of the future - can help us find courage and power in this time of climate change and global transition.
Come join us in exercises adapted from Joanna Macy's The Work That Reconnects. Joanna Macy has interwoven her study of deep ecology, Buddhism, and living systems theory with four decades of activism to create a new paradigm for personal and social change, and powerful workshop methods to make it part of our lives. She calls this The Work That Reconnects. Amid ecological and social crises, The Work That Reconnects helps us transform despair and apathy into constructive, collaborative action.
The workshop will be led by Kate Gessert and Lynne Fessenden. They studied together with Joanna Macy in 2005, and since then they've been leading Oregon workshops based on her work. Lynne works as director of the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition. Kate gardens, writes, teaches English as a Second Language classes at L.C.C., and is a member of Climate Crisis Working Group.
The workshop will cost $20 for the day, with scholarships available. Registration is limited to 20 people. Please make out checks to Kate Gessert and send them to Jacque Travis, 1620 Grant, Eugene 97402. If a scholarship is needed, it's fine to pay what you can and send that to Jacque. Thank you!
In October, we'll send you further information about the workshop.
Yours for a healing world,
Kate, Lynne, and Jacque
