The "Living on the Cusp" workshop will take place in the UK, 11-13th November, 2005, at Braziers Park ecovillage, near
Oxford. It is a weekend workshop detailing the effects of peak oil, and examining our options as defined by the constraints of available energy in a post petroleum world subject to increasing ecological limits. For more information, please visit www.livingonthecusp.org and www.love-craft.net.
Marin County would like to invite you to be a part of history. For the first time ever, Fairfax's Biketoberfest, a festival of brews and the bicycle, will kick off with a Human Powered Parade. This year, the festival and parade will be highlighting the cultural value of the bicycle, and the benefits of using the bicycle as transportation.
This parade will serve as a celebration of Petroleum-Free possibilities, following MCBC’s announcement last month marking Marin County’s designations a Non-motorized Transportation Pilot Program in the Federal Surface Transportation Bill! The Human-Powered Parade will also culminate International Walk and Bike to School Week.
The parade begins a day of festivities at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 8th. Following the parade there will be a bike festival featuring vendor booths filled with bikes, gear and buys from many retailers, and local manufacturers and cycling-related companies. There will be special information and materials available for first-time bike commuters and youth, custom, decorated, cargo and bizarre bikes ondisplay to peak the imagination.
Located twenty miles from San Francisco, Fairfax is a wonderful town
Resting below Mt. Tamalpais. Vibrant with beautiful weather and a lovely landscape, Marin County is a well-known hub for bike enthusiasts, artists, musicians and families, and Fairfax is full of options for dining, entertainment, and recreational activities.
Please let me know if you can make it, and also note that I can help out with overnight accommodations. Help us make this event a huge success, and establish the parade as a county tradition. I hope to see
you there.
If we have enough responses we are offering a chartered bus from Eugene to the Bay Area for a fee of between $50-85 round trip to this great, fun event.
