Post Carbon Marin is committed to preparing Marin County for the end of the Age of Oil while creating a thriving, healthy community. We will be conducting outreach, education and implementation projects for individuals, businesses and municipal entities.
Why Does Post Carbon Marin Exist?
The International Energy Agency is giving the world
until 2012 before supply cannot keep up with demand — so we don't have a lot of time. We may have even less time since supplies are stretched so tightly. All it takes is one geopolitical event to cause the shock earlier.
We haven't officially launched yet but you can join now and begin the conversation. We'll email when the launch date is set. Just subscribe to "Post Carbon Marin" during the registration process.
What we need to do:
- Have Marin pass a peak oil resolution quickly similar to San Francisco's
- start a demonstration organic farm, where we can teach farming (like they are doing in Santa Clara)
- improve bus systems to provide transportation to our residents when gas shortages develop
- a county-wide food audit
- a systematic residential and business preparedness initiative
- county-wide mass transportation that depends only on electricity and can handle carrying bicycles
- a massive rollout of renewable energy
- a local currency
- ...and more
