If you haven't read the information on the following Web site I recommend that you visit it. It has the best information of any Web site I know of to quickly learn about all of the short and long term effects of Peak Oil. This Web site has been quoted from by Congress itself in addressing the challenges that Peak Oil presents to us:
www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net
In addition, you may want to know that on October 24, 2005, the U.S. House of Representatives, recognizing the urgency of the Peak Oil situation, passed House Resolution 507 stating that "...the United States, in collaboration with other international allies, should establish an energy project with the magnitude, creativity, and sense of urgency that was incorporated in the `Man on the Moon' project to address the inevitable challenges of Peak Oil."
In looking at the ramifications of Peak Oil and Peak Natural Gas, the Temecula Valley fits the demographic of a community that could be devastated much more than many other communities will be from these phenomena. With so many people commuting such great distances to work in San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles counties from our area, any substantial rise in the price of gas would hit us extremely hard. When gas eventually reaches prices of $4.00-$6.00 a gallon, commuting such great distances to work will no longer be an option for many people. And we just don't have the available jobs for these people right here in our own community.
As a result many people will want to relocate where they can live closer to work, which will have consequences on both our local real estate market, and on our local economy.
These are, of course, the short term ramifications of Peak Oil on our community. And if you've studied the long term consequences of Peak Oil and Peak Natural Gas, you know that the long term consequences of these two phenomena will definitely not get better.
With this in mind one of the greatest things we can do is let other people in our community know about these phenomena. This will at least give people the option of learning more about them and how they can best prepare, or let them ignore these subjects altogether if this is what they want to do.
I invite you to join our group if you're someone living in the community who would like to learn more about Peak Oil and Peak Natural Gas, and also if you're someone who would like to enlighten others in our area on these subjects.
Ideally I would like to create opportunities to show the documentary movie "The End of Suburbia" to groups of people in our community followed by questions and answers afterward. So if you're someone who may be able to create one or more of these opportunities for our group please let me know.
Also, if you know people in the community who you'd like to begin educating on the subjects of Peak Oil and Peak Natural Gas, copy the Web address of this page from your browser window, paste it into an E-mail, and send it to them. You'll have already begun the process of educating people you care about in our community on these two extremely important subjects for our future.
