Yamhill Peak Oil

Group manager: mossbackfarm

Statement of Intent

Yamhill Peak Oil is a coalition of Yamhill County activists, farmers, business owners, and government agencies that strives for the relocalization of the Yamhill area economy, with an eye towards the effect of the peaking of the global oil supply over the next few years. Our efforts will strive to harness our area’s enthusiasm, creativity, and optimism in order to make our economy and community more self-sufficient, with local purchasing, emergency preparedness, and food production the priorities.

We feel that encouraging businesses and institutions to purchase locally produced products makes our region more secure, viable, and livable as the price of fuel for transport and production increases. Enabling our local first responders to be prepared for the emergencies of the 21st century will reduce the negative impacts of water and power service interruptions. And enabling a vibrant local farm economy will give our region resilience against uncertainty in food and fuel disruptions.

We hope that members of the Yamhill county community will join us in our efforts to keep our region prosperous and sustainable, both economically and ecologically, as we head into this era of expensive energy.
