Heinberg at SolFest

SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES faculty RICHARD HEINBERG to speak at SOLFEST

World-renowned author and peak-oil educator Richard Heinberg will speak on “Peak Oil and Policy” at SolFest in Hopland, CA, on Sunday August 17 at 11:00 a.m. Heinberg is a Senior Fellow of the Post Carbon Institute and a faculty member in the Sustainable Communities BA program at Dominican University of California. He is the author of eight books, including The Party’s Over: Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies (New Society, 2003, 2005), Powerdown: Options and Actions for a Post-Carbon World (New Society, 2004), The Oil Depletion Protocol (New Society, 2006), and Peak Everything (New Society, 2007).

Richard’s SolFest talk addresses crucial questions: Now that oil prices are biting hard and Peak Oil is more widely understood, what can be done to accelerate the needed shifts in transportation, agriculture, and renewable energy policy? Most political leaders are still simply looking for scapegoats; what policies make sense? What is the role of grassroots activism?

While you’re at SolFest, stop by the Sustainable Communities booth in space 206, near the Main Stage. You can also check out Sustainable Communities at http://www.dominican.edu/sustainablecommunities.
