Heinberg, Darley and Peak Oil for Policy Makers

Richard Heinberg and Julian Darley have just produced an outstanding 12 minute video directed at policy makers. If you haven't viewed it already at Global Public Media, this is a must-see and must-share, probably the best outreach tool for use with lawmakers. I took the liberty of posting it to Google Video (hope that's okay), and am featuring it on our Post Carbon Rhode Island site at www.relocalize.us, both on our home page, and on a page called Legislative To-do List; Apparently, DVDs are forthcoming, but I would encourage PCI to call on peak oil activists to download, burn and distribute copies in their localities, so that we all can share the expense of such an effort.
Many thanks to Richard and Julian for their rapid response to requests for such a media tool. We could not have anything better than what you have produced. Post Carbon Institute continues to lead the way with the most innovative and potentially far-reaching advocacy and networking tools for energy activists.

Re: Peak Oil for Policy Makers video

Hi David and all,

Glad to hear the positive feedback on the policy makers video. And thank you for the initiative you've taken to help get it distributed! I wanted to respond to your call out for distribution of the video:

  1. The video still needs some minor edits. We're working on creating a designated landing page on postcarbon.org specifically for policy makers that we want to work into the video. So, please, for now, do not upload the video elsewhere. In fact, we'd like to ask that you remove it from Google Video and elsewhere for now. It will make it a lot easier for us to make sure that the right version of the video is out there. We will be sure to let you all know when the video is ready for distribution.
  2. Our plan is to put the video on DVD. We're looking at putting together a package of the DVD, along with the second printing of the Post Carbon Cities book and some additional materials for local policy makers. If any of your groups are interested in getting a complimentary copy of the package when it's complete, please email me at asher at postcarbon dot org.

One other quick note: Richard Heinberg was interviewed on Australian national television yesterday. You can view the interview here.

I hope you're all well...

Asher
