Hi everyone,
I want to thank all of you who have stuck with me in my efforts to win the ideablob.com contest.
Thanks for all your support in voting and passing on the message to others and encouraging them to vote.
We got twice as many votes this time around as we did last time, that was a good thing. We have been
networking the project idea with many, many more people. It has brought much exposure to the idea
and to the project.
I continue to work with the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition and their efforts to move forward the
Lane County Farmers market and create a project that will work for them and the community.
I will be meeting with them today and talking with the City, there are things going on in the background.
We did NOT win the contest. This was very disappointing to me, I thought for sure we would have enough votes
this time to pull it off. I know we got the idea in front of enough people to do it, but in the end I could not get some
people to vote, because they did not want to register on the site.
Our final vote count was in the 700s. In my earlier messages I sent out, I had said that
we would need 1000s of votes to win, and that was true. We needed about 300 more votes to pull it off and we
did not get them in the end.
I am not giving up and I am considering another run at the contest after the summer is over in September so I hope you
will hang with me one more time. This will give us more time to continue to reach out to a larger portion of the community
in the process.
I really want to see this project happen and totally believe that a strong local food option of a year rounds farmers market
is something that will benefit the ENTIRE community, not just a segment of the community.
Food is the one thing that everyone in the community needs. A local food economy is vital to a thriving community.
Thanks everyone for your support.
Have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Erin Ely
