Arizona networking

Is there really only such a small number of people in Arizona who have yet come to this?

Arizona networking

hello everyone,

I notice that this forum hasn't been used for almost a year... I hope you all didn't give up!

Regarding the issue of networking in Arizona, there are quite a few of us who are looking into and/or practicing alternatives to fossil fuel energy, as well as creating new systems for relocalization.

To get started, check out the state's clearinghouse of sustainability news and links at SUSTAINABLE ARIZONA www.sustainablearizona.org

Within their organization, you will find links to more local and regional organizations. There are folks in every part of the state that are dealing with these issues. The main centers of organization seem to be the Phoenix Metro Area, the Tucson Metro Area, Flagstaff, Prescott, Sedona, Verde Valley and Patagonia, but you'll find folks in backcountry rural areas and small towns who are also interested.

Hopefully, this will give you a place to start! If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me directly!

Warm Regards,

Jay Johnson

Tucson Arizona Contacts

The bulletin board approach at Post Carbon does not appear to work well for developing ongoing communications. Invite those interested in a post-carbon Tucson to go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sustainable Tucson/ Ronald Frederick Greek

Seeking Arizona esp. Tucson Contacts

Peak oil has been my "hobby" for 8 years. I work in Yuma, but we hope to retire to Tucson in 2012, and hope that there remains a viable civilization for our retirement, and our daughter's future. Seeking further Arizona contacts for discussion. Ronald Frederick Greek unno_2002@yahoo.com

networking

How is it possible to network with Flagstaff Outpost if its manager doesn't accept emails? Do I contact Flagstaff through this comment box? I need help here. I feel like I'm the only person in Prescott aware of Peak Oil and would like some help in forming a community group focussed on this issue. I'm hosting an End of Suburbia screening in October to get things moving, but I sure would like to hear from other Arizonans on what they did, and how they did it. There's a group in Scottsdale, too. No? Will someone respond to me? Thanks....

Prescott, AZ.

Post Carbon. Real or imagined. Answer: REAL. So then, WHEN? Answer: Not the right question. See: First answer. The right question is which group can afford to be wrong by 20 years. Like you, I am looking for the right community. I like Arizona, or NMexico. What is your population? I am just getting started here in TX myself.

relocalization networking

Hi Carol, et al. I am trying find out what's going on with the postcarbon relocalization network in Arizona. Are there any upcoming plans for any local or regional events? The only thing I've heard about recently was a December 3 forum in Hotevilla. Maybe we could plan something for Earth Day? Carol, I hope your work in Prescott is going well. Please let me know how your End of Suburbia screening went. Thanks, Vince from Tucson

Prescott film screening

Vince - the EOS screening went well with about 20 attendees but the discussion afterwards was a bust. The facilitator had an agenda which was to tell all that he knew (which was considerable) with graphs, percentages, statistics, etc., which was way too much information after sitting through 78 minutes of pretty heavy material, new to most people. The audience was not engaged and people started leaving. Thankfully, people who want more information signed the signup sheet so I have a way to reach them when I decide what the next step should be. Two other films which are well worth viewing are Peak Oil, Imposed by Nature - especially the 18-minute bonus interviews, and Denial Stops Here, available through From the Wilderness and features Michael Ruppert, author of Crossing the Rubicon. He's goooood. When I figure out my next move, I'll post it here. Good luck in Tucson. It an uphill climb here in the conservative, republican southwest. Seems like we're all about building, development, growth (?), and SUVs. But, if you're like me, once you know what you know, it places a responsibility on us to broadcast to others. Carol

Arizona networking

I am interested in contacting folks from around Arizona, and am especially looking for other NW Tucsonans interested in starting our own local post carbon relocalization outpost... I know you are out there!

Seeking Tucson Contacts

While we live in Yuma, we hope to retire to Tucson in 2012, and hope there is still civilization for our retirement, and our daughter's future. Ronald F. Greek Attorney - U.S. Army unno_2002@yahoo.com My hope is to join / initiate an appropriate grass roots type organization in Tucson / Arizona.

Unconscious Arizonans

I've only JUST joined PostCarbon and the Flagstaff Relocalization Network and am grateful for its availability. All I know is that amongst my activist friends here in Prescott - and they are many - no one understands oil, the coming restrictions, or its implications. I feel alone and crazy, so I'm grateful for connecting with other like-minds who live in state. I plan to participate in the Peak Oil and Community Solutions conference in Yellow Springs, Ohio, September 23-25 and am disappointed that its dates conflict with Flagstaff's Party's Over forum, September 22, otherwise I would attend. Anyhow, it's good to know my concerned neighbors are not that far away. Thanks.
