The Urban Green Partnership presents:
THE FIRST ANNUAL SOUTH STREET GREEN FESTIVAL
Do your part to make Philadelphia greener by making RECYCLING a priority.
FREE ? Sunday, September 3 ? 10am-10pm
In front of Whole Foods on the 900 block of South Street
Philadelphia ONLY recycles 6% of its trash. This represents an amazing opportunity to save Philadelphia millions of dollars in landfill fees each year. The focus of the South Street Green Festival will be on how we can make a difference in the community through recycling and other sustainable measures that city residents can put into practice. The goal is to gather 3,000 signatures via a petition supporting the Recycle Now campaign.
Learn to live green and recycle with more than 40 green and sustainable organizations from the Philadelphia region. Enjoy a full day of activities including:
? Children's Activities
? Live music on the rooftop of Whole Foods
? Food vendors
? Environmental and Political Speakers
? Environmental Education
? Art by the Big Art Show
? Free stuff!
Urban Green Partnership www.urbangreenpartnership.org is creating, communicating and supporting the information and tools residents and companies thriving in an urban setting will need to save money and the planet.
We will be building the Urban Sustainability Research Center to focus the local community’s green initiatives and collect data on the hundreds of products consumed by businesses and residents in the region.
We will also be building the Econexus.org, a web starting point for all inquiries pertaining to sustainable products, processes, companies, and organizations. With events like the South Street Green Festival and outreach we will support local organizations to increase environmental education, life cycle awareness and local green initiatives within the community.
The Festival is made possible thanks to the generous support of:
Recycle Now
Whole Foods, Grow-Design, Starbucks, Golden Blossom Honey
Recycle Bank, Joe Coffee, Sustainable Business Network, UPS
Penn Future, Clean Water Action, Clean Air Council,
Ben Franklin Tercentenary, Alliance for Philadelphia’s Animals,
Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are still available. Contact JJ Biel-Goebel for more information at 386.290.8749 or blockparty@urbangreenpartnership.com.
