Our group is mentioned in an article in today's state newspaper! Together with the work I'm doing on energy descent action planning and transition towns the journo quotes me talking about the need for relocalisation in the region. Hopefully this will spark some support and more action on relocalisation here... (read more)

Australian David Holmgren, cooriginator of the Permaculture concept, has launched a new website exploring future scenarios in the context of climate change and peak oil. Site is still under construction but already has plenty of content.

Peak Oil didn't rate a mention at the Australian National 2020 summit organised by the Federal Government.

The Eudlo Relocalisation Group have been invited to have a stall at this year's WOEIE Festival - the Where on Earth is Eudlo? celebration - held in the local school grounds. A great chance to let other people in our community know we exist and what we're up to.

The Maroochy Council will be presenting a talk on Community Driven Renewable Energy Solutions on Feb 8 with Clive Burke from the UK. Clive was involved in the formation and development of the first wind farm in the South East of England which is 100 per cent community owned.

SEAC will be speaking about energy descent planning at a conference at the Southern Cross University in Lismore NSW in February. It is part of an ongoing partnership between the Sunshine Coast and Northern NSW on creating food bio-regions and working together to address peak oil and climate change.

The latest IPCC assessment report pulls no punches. This urgent, Nobel Prize winning call to action is yet another tool for any relocalisation group trying to convey the importance of reducing consumption and producing locally.

We congratulate Andrew McNamara on his appointment to Minister for Sustainability in the new Queensland cabinet and also congratulate Premier Anna Bligh on her decision.

QUEENSLAND is heading for an oil shock. And it is not a matter of if, but when.
As crude oil prices hit a record high yesterday, an as-yet unreleased Queensland Government report warns of massive social dislocation, rising food prices and infrastructure headaches because of rising oil costs.
