The Environmental Geochemistry Research Group

Description:

The Institute for Advanced Studies currently supports a series of interdisciplinary workshops on Sustainability, Sustainability Cafés, organised by Professor Vala Ragnarsdottir of the Enviromental Geochemistry Research Group, Dr Pru Foster and Dr Sarah Cornell from the Department of Earth Sciences. These Cafés are based on the World Café format where people who normally don't talk get together to discuss questions that matter. This format often leads to "break through" thinking that is based on the collective knowledge in the room.

Previous Cafes:
January 11th 2006, Sustainability Café No. 1: Education
February 15th 2006, Sustainability Café No. 2: Carbon Reduction
March 15th 2006, Sustainability Café No. 3: New eco housing
May 17th 2006, Sustainability Café No. 4: Low impact living: Positive aspects of living in harmony
October 14th 2006, Sustainability Café No. 5: Big Café: Make Bristol a sustainable city.

In addition to these, a supplementary café: What is a 'Sustainable' Community? organised by Heather Witham from the Institute for Learning and Research Technology and the Higher Education Academy, was held on April 12th 2006.
