Hi,
Just testing the water - wondering if it would be worthwhile running courses here at Eudlo on composting and worm farming?
There seems to be a growing interest in these skills, would you be interested in doing a half or one day course in either of these? It would be very practical - we'd create a compost and I can demonstrate setting up a worm farm - we have both small and large worm farms here. Perhaps we could set up a bathtub worm farm during a course?
Benefits of composting and worm farming; reduces waste, reduces amount of waste going to landfill, creates a useful and extremely high quality fertiliser (commercial fertilisers are petroleum based so they will be affected by peak oil), saves you money, saves the environment, is easy to do, what child wouldn't love a worm farm?, improves your soil, adds organic matter, saves water use (soil high in organic matter holds water better), aerates the soil, increases microbial activity in your soil (plant roots need microbes to feed), and helps make your garden more sustainable.
Any comments?
Cheers,
Sonya

great idea!
Sonya, I think this is a fantastic idea- I'd be keen to attend both, but the drive would be too much for me- I'll be interested to hear how it goes, though! I'd advertise the heck out of it, through all your personal networks and available websites so you get a good turnout. If you have a couple of successful local courses, perhaps you can "take your show on the road" like Elisabeth Fekonia does with her cheesemaking workshops.
