Coming Soon!! Seabay - www.seabay.org.uk Ebay type LET Scheme

Body:

Very soon we will be presenting a LET Scheme to our home town in Seaford - it's called SEABAY. It will be a local exchange trading scheme that is based on the EBAY principle.

The currency exchange will be an hours work for an hours work
There will be a rating system in place
Everyone will be able to see all transactions
Chat rooms/ specific areas of interest to link the people of Seaford together
e.g. carpooling area
Self-monitoring and administrating
A small team will be on hand to resolve disputes
Will reach a wider local audience

We are still currently in deep thought on how we can involve people who are not connected to the Internet - perhaps these people will ask for access help through designated people. Any Ideas anyone? perhaps we will see how popular the internet based one is first and then gradually find a way to include those who don't have access to a computer etc.

Many people are waiting for it to come online!!! www.seabay.org.uk

The simplest way of having non-web connected people trade LETS is to set up a group of AGENTS. These people process transactions for the others. All the non-web connected person need to do is 1) give the "payer" their ID maybe on a little card (See COGS templates for an idea). Or the way hotels do it when they charge the breakfast to your room number.(Room number sir?) 2) collect the "payees" ID and submit a transfer request to the AGENT (just like you do it in the bank/post Office)

Thanks - yes I think you're right! Our local libraries have internet use and they could even show them how to at least log on to the internet lets or as you say do it for them. They could contribute to the scheme and get points for it.
