OilAwareness-SF is a public Meetup group that gets together monthly. As Dave said, we try to do a lot of outreach with flyers and tabling and stuff. A few of our PDF's and stickers are downloadable here: HTTP://OilAwareness-SF.ORG
We are always looking for people with ideas and energy (no pun intended).
We meet on the second Wednesday of every month.
Mike
I know of two groups in San Francisco. Both are now focused on raising awareness of our energy predicament more so than neighborhood relocalization projects. Post Carbon SF has a project to get a poster on the oil situation in classrooms and is planning podcasts. The Oil Awareness group does tabling at events, flyering, and distribution of the End of Suburbia to video stores. There are also efforts in The City involving local food, bike advocacy, community choice aggregation for renewable energy, biodeisel, composting, tidal power, and more that are in alignment with an energy constrained future. Are you interested in working on relocalization?
I'm very interested in relocalization, specifically for the Sunset district (my neighborhood). I recently started volunteering at Other Avenues organic food co-op, and I hear through them that there are a lot of permaculture types out here, so I am trying to pursue that angle. Mostly I'm looking for something to do, related to relocalization and Peak Oil awareness, other than sit in front of a computer and type (though I enjoy that, too).
