Reminder! Remember that our Northern California Regional Peak Oil Awareness conference is coming up next month. It's Saturday, September 29th, 10 am to 5 pm and a probable women's meeting 5-8pm run by Janaia of Yuba Gals. It's at the same location as the last several meetings, the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 DeHaro Street, in San Francisco.
Public transportation is available to this location and it is less than 2 miles away from Bart and Caltrain; and close to the 101 and 280 freeways.
Our agenda details are still in flux, but will include David Fridley, staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Lab, who will give his perspective-changing talk on "The Myth of Biofuels." Linda Perrine will give a talk on plants. Dennis Brumm will be handing out a DVD of the Fridley talk as well. We'll also have breakout working groups so
there's plenty to pique your excitement. Please send suggestions for breakout groups to Saba sabsmalik12@aol.com.
We're planning to do a pot-luck as last year (which is always lot of fun).
This September's meeting, co-led by a coalition of bay area groups, is open to any concerned citizens who are active in peak oil/relocalization or related groups.
Please plan to come to the Northern California Post Carbon Network meeting on September 29 at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 DeHaro Street, San Francisco. Saba Malik and Michael Poremba will facilitate this meeting. Please note: some information has changed from the original notice sent out (including a one hour time shift).
The meeting will be between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 29, with the following agenda:
10:00-10:15 - Introductions
10:15-11:45 - David Fridley, on "The Myths of Biofuels" (presentation and Q&A)
11:45 - 12:45 - Lunch - this will be a pot luck as in the past meetings. Please bring some of your yummiest specialties.
12:45 - 1:45 - Michael Poremba "Climate Change and Peak Oil" (how are they related, where is the overlap, etc.)
At 1:45 there will be (at least) two breakout sessions, with the following topics:
Michael will continue in a break out with the topics relating to Climate Change and Peak Oil
Linda Perrine will conduct a group on relocalizing food
At 4:00 the groups will recoalesce in the main hall and each will present a 15 minute summary of their groups' progress. There will be 15 minutes at the end of this for general socializing.
For those in attendance who can stay beyond 5 and who wish to continue the socializing later on, there will be a dinner at a local restaurant.
Please RSVP to this (richard@katznip.com) by September 20, earlier if at all possible. We hope to see you there.
