Hi-
I wanted to echo everything that Patricia said
(she's more eloquent than me-- isn't it strange
how we can be well-spoken and lack confidence?)
Andre's presentation was great. I hope he does another one,
and that folks consider tuning in.
Thanks to Andre for doing this, and to PostCarbon for supporting him
in doing this.
Best,
Jim

Re: Andre's Presentation + future presentations
Hi everyone,
I'm delighted to see all the great feedback from the presentation by
Andre yesterday. Thanks Andre again for initiating it and putting it all
together, and thanks Patricia, Jim, Judith and others for sharing your
thoughts. Asher is away for the remainder of the week, but will return
early next week.
Patricia, thanks for sharing your thoughts about putting together a
distilled comprehensive presentation that would feature 'the best
practices' from across the network. This is also something we've
discussed. Asher and I will look into what options exist at the moment
and what resources may be available. If there is anyone who has already
started on something similar or would be interested in taking the lead
on this, please let us know so we can avoid duplicating efforts. As
Andre mentioned, this could potentially tie into a leadership training
program within Post Carbon Institute and the Relocalization Network, and
as we've seen there is a lot of potential for active participation using
the online technologies that minimize the need for travel. In the
meantime, as Patricia suggested, we can start thinking locally about
which are the most practical and inspiring projects that can be shared.
Finally, we've been corresponding with members of the list who are
having difficulty posting. We recognize how frustrating it can be to see
all of the discussions taking place and not being able to jump in in
real time. Thanks to all for your patience while we try to sort out what
is causing the problems.
Best,

Re: Andre's Presentation + future presentations
Hey Shelby,
How's life? Our community gardening project is coming along and our ag university is putting together an energy farm type concept for demonstration and analysis this way. I'm writing about Andre's presentation. I managed to hear it Tuesday night and am wondering whether the slides are available from his presentation are available?
cheers and thanks for all your hard work!
Lance

Presentations for week of June 2nd
Jim and Patricia, thank you for the kind words. I'm glad that you got
value out of the presentation.
I'm happy to conduct more presentations. In fact, I have two more
opportunities next week. See below.
Asher, I shared with the people on the call your idea of creating some
leadership training for people and the response was unequivocally
positive. I hope I didn't spill the beans. On the other hand, if you
wondered if the idea would fly, you've got some positive feedback on
that now.
Update on the Townhall Meetings for San Francisco:
We had the kick-off meeting yesterday and now have about a dozen
students from the Presidio MBA program (www.presidiomba.org) getting
up to speed on peak oil in general. They also are reading relevant
entries for their specific topics on The Oil Drum,
CommunitySolution.org, Relocalize.net and Global Public Media. I don't
have the dates for the meetings themselves settled but we know they
will be in early August. We will record them and make them available
somewhere online. The topics are:
* Introduction to peak oil
* Transportation
* Personal Preparation
* Creating Communities and Local Economies
* Growing Food in an Urban Environment
* Keeping Healthy in a Post Peak World
The students will also be attending one of two of my presentations I
will be giving next week to which you are also invited. They are:
Wednesday 10am PST
https://lobby.mc.iconf.net/gcc/r.asp?ba=6&I=303702320
Thursday 2pm PST
https://lobby.mc.iconf.net/gcc/r.asp?ba=6&I=303702321
The call in numbers are:
1 866 234 4460
1 205 354 0280
Or you can have the service call you.
Technical support numbers for your country are on this web page:

PLEASE PLEASE accept the following requests if you are going to attend:
1. Test your computer setup *well* before joining the call, perhaps
even today. The service I use has excellent free technical support but
I won't delay the start of the presentation if you are sorting through
technical glitches.
2. Join the call a few minutes beforehand so that we can start on time.
3. Call from a land line in a quiet place if you think you'll want to
ask questions. Cell phone quality is still generally poor.
Use the following to test your computer setup:

If for any reason the links above do not work for you, use these
instructions:
1. Go to www.genesys.com. Click on the 'Participant' button on the
lower right.
2. Enter the meeting number "*6645520*"
3. Use technical support if you need it.
The presentations are being generously sponsored by Genesys Web
Conferencing (www.genesys.com) and you are free to invite others to
either session.

time? ;-)
