For the last two weeks SustainaBundy has been very active in the community. In working for a sustainable Bundaberg Region, the group has shown how just a few people can make a big difference. Click here to see the photos.

Early in May SustainaBundy visited a farm that will be part of SustainaBundy's Farm Gate Buying Group programme. The buying group allows members to buy direct from local farmers, get a better product (quite often for a better price), minimise transport emissions, directly support a local business, strengthen the local economy by keeping our dollars in the community, and foster good personal relationships with our producers - this is what the SustainaBundy got local? sticker campaign is all about. The group's first order is expected to go in this month.

SustainaBundy also participated in a Landcare working bee at Smith's Crossing with the Hinkler Burnett Greens. Preserving native vegetation and protecting soil and waterways is an important part of sustainability, not just for the environment but also for agriculture, local economy and infrastructure.

Finally, the relocalisation group also installed their World Environment Day display in the Bundaberg library (see photo, right), which can be viewed through Thursday May 22. Resources in the display include flyers and information about the Bundaberg 2008 World Environment Day celebration on Sunday June 1 at the PCYC, as well as a large selection of books, magazines and DVDs about sustainability issues, self reliance, sustainable gardening and farming practices and more. Many of the resources will be donated by SustainaBundy to the library following the WED event. Click here to see photos of all the latest SustainaBundy activities!

The last half of May will revolve around planning for the World Environment Day celebration, as well as determining nominees for the SustainaBundy management committee. SustainaBundy's next meeting will take place at 5:30pm on Wednesday May 21 at the School of Arts Building. Management committee nominations will close on June 2 (the day after the World Environment Day Celebration), and the SustainaBundy Annual General Meeting and election will take place on Monday June 16, also at 5:30pm in the School of Arts building.
