UBC Terry Speaker Series: 100 mile diet

The terry project at UBC has announced their first speaker(s) this season: James MacKinnon and Alisa Smith. They are the authors of "The 100-Mile Diet," a bestseller and buzz worthy book that uses a social experiment (can we subsist on only eating things produced within a 100 mile radius) to look into the world of food politics, economics, and culture.

The talk, entitled "The 100-Mile Diet" will be presented at the UBC Chan Centre Concert Hall on November 23rd at 12 noon. This will include a Q&A period, as well as an opportunity to meet the authors afterwards.

Tickets are free for UBC students, staff, and faculty, and may be obtained by presenting ID at the Chan Centre Ticket office (Open monday to saturday, 12noon to 5pm). Individuals may pick up a maximum of 2 tickets (one for a friend, who need not be affiliated with UBC). Ticket availability is first come first served. Please ensure attendance, or return the tickets immediately. Each unused ticket represents an empty seat that is both a waste and a disappointment for folks who could not get a ticket. General public access to tickets will be announced in the upcoming weeks, depending on UBC response.

100-mile diet tickets open to public (Vancouver)

Here's a message from one of the organizers, David Ng:

Just a heads up that the 100-Mile Diet tickets will be made available to the general public as of Monday November 19th. Would be wonderful if you could invite your all of your Facebook friends out (UBC'ers and non-UBC'ers) to the event's URL.

Tickets are free and getting a full house would be most lovely.

cheers
