Live Earth will be a legendary music event - 9 concerts, over 150 headlining music acts, 24 hours of music across all 7 continents broadcast to over 2 billion people. It will happen on July 7th, 2007.
"By attracting an audience of billions, we hope Live Earth will launch a global campaign giving a critical mass of people around the world the tools they need to help solve the climate crisis. Live Earth will help us reach a tipping point that's needed to move corporations and governments to take decisive action to solve the climate crisis"
- Al Gore http://www.liveearth.org
No Canadian city is represented in the 9-city Live Earth line-up, so Global Habitat Festival was established as a "Friends Of Live Earth" event so Canadians can actively participate in the global movement expected from Live Earth. Shelby Tay, Relocalization Network Coordinator of Post Carbon Institute’s Vancouver, BC office is volunteering for Global Habitat Festival.
I am commenting on this event, because it provides an opportunity for the Relocalization Network to support and participate in a worthy worldwide effort to raise public pressure to bear on creating solutions to climate change. We know that Peak Oil and an energy constrained future is part of climate change problems and solutions. Often, it seems that climate activists and energy activists don’t work together, but we share one endangered planet.
This opportunity is here and we can show our presence and support. We can host parties to watch the televised concerts and join in events. To find out more http://joinliveearth.org/gore
We can get to know one another and learn from each other. To quote Post Carbon Institute fellow, Richard Heinberg in his March 2007 Museletter: ” it makes sense for the two groups to be informed by one another, and to cooperate wherever possible.” To read more about climate change and peak oil and how we can work together click on:

Global Habitat Festival - Vancouver Friends of Live Earth Event
Hi everyone!
I've actually been working with a bunch of volunteers from local NGOs and groups to organize a friends of live earth event here in Vancouver -
Global Habitat Festival. It's all come together in the last couple weeks and it's been amazing to see people step up and offer their services to
pull the event off in such a short period. The event is posted here at www.relocalize.net/global_habitat_festival_vancouver see also
www.globalhabitatfestival.com.
cheers!
